Building a brighter future by strengthening families and communities

Honoring the legacy of a local hero by helping youth and families through the promotion of wellness, hope, kindness and practical support in Newfoundland and Labrador.

About us

The Local Hero was founded in loving memory of Jeffrey Moulton

A devoted husband, proud father of four, and a deeply respected member of the Burin community, who passed away on October 5th, 2025 at the age of 45.

At his core, Jeffrey was a family man. His greatest joy came from time spent with his wife and children. Whether spending times with friends at the camper, cheering on the Montreal Canadiens, enjoying long summer days at Duricle Pond, and how could we forget his greatest passion - playing darts.

The memories he created with his friends and family will be treasured for a lifetime.

Jeffrey’s compassion extended far beyond his home. As a youth outreach worker, he dedicated himself to supporting young people in his community. He believed deeply in the potential of every child and worked to help them see their own worth. His impact continues to be felt in the lives of many. It is this spirit that lives on through The Local Hero. Inspired by Jeffrey’s kindness, generosity, and commitment to others, our organization is dedicated to supporting youth and families across Newfoundland and Labrador.

This memorial isn’t just about remembering his life, but about carrying on what he believed in. Through the promotion of wellness, hope, kindness, and practical support, we strive to carry forward the values he lived by every day.
